We are ECO – We recycle in line with sustainability
We are ECO friendly. Not just on paper, but most importantly in practice. It is said that actions speak louder than words. At DUBLEZ, we are aware of the climate crisis and the importance of a responsible approach to business that is in harmony with nature. Only fair business towards nature is truly sustainable and long-term.
Let’s take a look at how to recycle the packaging of our products after purchase, as well as the individual product components. The great news is that all parts are recyclable! If you are interested in ecology, we also recommend reading the section below, where we explain how we approach ecology, recycling, and sustainability directly within our company.
How to recycle DUBLEZ product packaging and the products themselves
Every product in the world has its own lifespan, whether physical or functional. If you find yourself in a situation where our products or their packaging need to be recycled, we provide a detailed guide on how to responsibly recycle each part. All parts of our products are recyclable.
- Wooden template – The wooden template is made from wood. It can be taken to a recycling center as wood waste.
- Bubble wrap – Bubble wrap is a 100% recyclable type of plastic. Over the past few years, we have reduced our use of bubble wrap by 90%, and our goal is to stop using it completely.
- Cardboard – Cardboard serves as packaging material and is considered paper. Therefore, it should be disposed of with paper waste.
- Paper tape – Fully recyclable and classified as paper.
- Adhesive tape – No problem at all. There is no need to remove the adhesive tape from the cardboard. It is recycled together with paper. Paper processing facilities can easily handle adhesive tape. During recycling, all components such as adhesive tape or metal staples are removed in the pulping process.
- Wooden product – If you decide to recycle a DUBLEZ product, it can be taken to a recycling center as wood waste together with furniture. Any product made from any type of wood board is recycled in the same way.
- Clock mechanism – The clock mechanism is an electronic component, so it must be recycled as electronic waste.
Environmental sustainability of DUBLEZ (environmental policy)
The best waste is the waste that never exists. If waste is created, as in our case, we strive to recycle it. Currently, we produce almost no municipal waste, as we have implemented an environmental policy within the company to ensure that we treat nature in a sustainable and responsible way. Take a look with us at what we have achieved so far :)
- Local production – All products from the DUBLEZ workshop are manufactured in Slovakia and shipped to nearby EU countries. Thanks to local production and the selection of local suppliers, we not only support the domestic economy, but also protect the environment. Long-distance transport of goods from faraway countries, for example from Asia, is extremely unsustainable, as longer transport across half the globe results in higher CO2 emissions.
- Reducing energy consumption in production – Through years of development, we aim to reduce energy demands. We have invested in new machines that are more energy-efficient, replaced old lighting with new energy-saving systems, and use air conditioning units with the highest energy efficiency.
- Reducing paper usage – At DUBLEZ, we prioritize digital solutions over paper. For example, we send invoices for orders exclusively in electronic form. We have switched to digital accounting, meaning all invoices are received digitally by our accountant, and the accounting archive is fully electronic. Within company processes, we strive to handle everything without the need to print information on paper.
- We primarily use wooden materials for production – Materials used in production are primarily made from wood, whether MDF boards, plywood, or cork. We do not manufacture our products from plastics.
- Material production comes from managed forests – The wooden boards used in our production are made from wood sourced from managed forests. This means that forests are managed and maintained by humans, where trees are harvested and new ones are planted. 95% of the material used in our production is manufactured within the EU, with almost all of it coming from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Products from our main material supplier meet the strictest standards applied by the California Air Resources Board, which enforces rigorous air quality and pollutant control requirements. The supplier’s products are also certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC), and the wood used comes from verified and well-managed forests that ensure a renewable and sustainable source.
- Replacing disposable batteries with rechargeable ones – At DUBLEZ, we have replaced all disposable alkaline AA and AAA batteries with rechargeable ones. Thanks to this, we generate significantly less waste—up to 1,000 times less, as one battery can be recharged up to 1,000 times.
- We recycle everything possible:
- Plastic recycling within the company – Complete recycling of all types of plastics that can be recycled.
- Paper recycling – 100% recycling of paper and cardboard across the entire organization.
- Glass recycling – All glass bottles and other glass products are recycled once a sufficient amount is collected.
- Battery recycling – We collect used batteries and periodically take them to designated battery collection points.
- Electronic waste recycling – As electronic waste is also generated in our company, we have a dedicated area for collecting it. Once full, it is recycled as electronic waste.
- Metal recycling – We apply the same approach to metals, sorting all types of metals that can be recycled.
- Recycling of wood waste from production – Wood waste generated during production is collected and then transported back to the manufacturing facility, where it is used to produce new wooden boards. MDF, plywood, solid wood, paper tubes, or cork leftovers—everything is recycled, ground down, and returned to production.
- We plant trees: We donate 1% of our income tax to an organization responsible for planting trees in cities.
